We’ve all been there—whether it’s a social engagement or work event, we tell ourselves we’ll stick around for a little while, only to find hours have passed. Tradesales Dispatch Coordinator Liam Finestone knows this feeling all too well.

“I lived in Darwin until I was 27, working in the building industry,” Liam recalls. “When my dad asked for help building his retirement home in York, about 90 minutes outside Perth, I agreed to give him six months—not a day more. That was nearly 20 years ago,” he chuckles.

What was meant to be a temporary stay turned into a new chapter. “I fell in love with country life, and soon after, I met my wife and started a family.”

Liam’s industry knowledge led him and his wife to start a successful hardware business in York, which thrived for 15 years. “Then COVID came along, and we had an opportunity to sell the business. It was one of those offers you can’t pass up, so we took it.”

That’s how Liam found his way to Tradesales, initially starting out as a General Hand.

A Man of Many Talents

In the four years since joining Tradesales, Liam has taken on various roles, from general hand to fabricator and now dispatch coordinator. His willingness to adapt and “give it a go” has been key to his progression and the company’s growth.

“I enjoy the variety here,” Liam shares. “Tradesales has such a broad product lineup, so there’s always something new. The team trusts you to work independently and encourages solutions that might not have been considered.”

Values Recognition Winner

These traits didn’t go unnoticed by his peers, who nominated him for the company’s Values Recognition Award for Integrity.

“Liam is loyal, reliable, and industrious,” says Tradesales Factory Coordinator Dave McEwen.

“His persistent diligence and determination to overcome challenges reflect his unwavering commitment. He consistently thinks in the company’s best interests, showing leadership and loyalty that inspire others.”

A Great Place to Work

Though his job titles have changed, one thing remains constant for Liam: the positive company culture.

“I’m lucky to work with a great bunch of people. Everyone’s friendly, and we all enjoy a good laugh,” he says.

“That doesn’t mean we aren’t serious about our work. Constructive feedback is welcomed and taken on board, no matter your position.”

Liam is quick to recommend Tradesales as a workplace. “It’s a great company that looks after its people. I’d encourage anyone to work here.”

Family Man

When he’s not hard at work, Liam is a dedicated family man, supporting his three daughters with their basketball and hockey commitments. “We love camping and enjoying everything country living has to offer.”

From a six-month commitment to a new life in York, Liam’s journey has been one of growth, adaptability, and dedication—both to his family and to Tradesales. And with his positive attitude and strong work ethic, it’s clear his story at Tradesales is far from over.
