Amanda Atkins’ journey to Tradesales is anything but conventional. In 2019, Amanda became a fully qualified beauty therapist, hoping to open her own business. However, her dreams were put on hold as COVID-19 disrupted the industry.
Determined to persevere, Amanda took a role at an abattoir before briefly relocating to Bunbury, where an unfortunate injury forced her to change plans again.
Starting Fresh at Tradesales
In August 2023, Amanda joined the Tradesales team, embracing a new path far from her original career aspirations. Starting as a General Hand with no prior experience, Amanda’s resilience and adaptability set her apart. While her new role came with challenges, she found comfort in returning to her roots, as most of her family lives about 20 minutes away from the Tradesales factory and is a region she knows well.
Amanda has been with Tradesales for over a year, and her time here has been a steep learning curve. Adjusting to the tools of the trade, working in a predominantly male environment, and keeping up with a fast-paced workload were initially daunting. However, Amanda embraced these challenges with enthusiasm and a determination to prove herself.
“The most challenging part has been keeping up with the boys,” Amanda admits, “but it’s also been the most rewarding.”
With her positive attitude, she has learned the ropes and started looking to gain further skills to enhance her expertise.

Amanda’s dedication, commitment to learning, and upbeat approach have made her a standout team member at Tradesales. Her colleagues and leaders quickly noticed her enthusiasm and determination to take on new challenges, which led her to win the Values Recognition Award for Enthusiasm this month.

A Bright Future Ahead
Looking to the future, Amanda has taken a bold step toward professional growth by applying for an apprenticeship in painting. While continuing her role as a General Hand, she is excited about the opportunity to develop her skill-set further and contribute even more to the team.

Amanda credits much of her success to the support she’s received from her colleagues and leaders at Tradesales.
“The bosses have always looked after me and offered help whenever I needed it,” she says.
Amanda is incredibly thankful for her team leader, Michael, who she describes as knowledgeable, resourceful, and always willing to guide her through any challenges.
“I am so grateful to Tradesales for giving me the opportunity to grow and succeed in a role I never thought I’d find myself in.”
